Accept his offer and embark on the quest A Chance Arrangement. He will ask you if you want to make some money. You will be approached by a character named Brynjoff who is one of the top people in the Thieves Guild. Head to the main market area in the center of town. Light armor not only weighs less, which allows you to carry more items, it also provides greater mobility and speed key attributes for a thief character. Use Light ArmorĪs a thief, you will want to opt for light armor versus heavy. The items will also appear red when you place them in any container. Stolen items appear as normal items in your inventory, however, they will not show up in your inventory if you attempt to sell them to merchants who are not fences.
Stolen items can be sold to local fences who will become known to you once you join the Thieves Guild. Stolen items show up red when viewing them.
Please note no merchants will buy anything stolen. Belethor, while sort of obnoxious, buys everything. You will want to make sure that you do not train for more than 2000 gold before you pickpocket it back because then the chance of you succesfully getting your gold back is near 0% if not 0%.The main store in Whiterun is Belethor’s General Store. Remember that any gold you spend on training you can picpocket back from him so that you don’t pay any gold. The trainer for heavy armor is Nazir of the Dark Brotherhood in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. When you come back you should have level 100 heavy armor! Then you can walk away from the game and do something else for a few hours, but make sure that you check after a few minutes that you aren’t going to die eventually. You will have to make sure that you aren’t taking too much damage that you will eventually die. Find a group of enemies (sword or archers/magic is fine) and just stand there and tank the damage.
You will also need some pretty sturdy light armor that can take a heavy beating and reduce the incoming damage by so much that you could just stand there and do nothing. You will have to put the difficulty on the lowest possible level. Light armor takes ages to level up in the normal way, but I have found a trick to it that will let you level up light armor without even having to be at you computer/console.
